Re-envisioning Extended Courses in Foreign Languages

The National Academic Exchange Session for the exemplary teaching cases of the extended courses in “Foreign Languages + Ideological & Political Instructions” at higher education institutions came to an end at Tianjin University, Nov 17, 2024.

 

This teaching research event was co-organized by the Research Institute for Foreign Languages Teaching of MOE Department of Higher Education, HIGHER EDUCATION PRESS, National Network Training Center for University Teachers, FOREIGN LANGUAGES IN CHINA publishing house.

 

Successfully, Prof. LI Jing-led delegate, including HAO Liang, LIU Qian, WANG Bingrui, and WANG Chunxiao, at AXHU School of Foreign Studies, was presented the first prize at the national level.

 

Adhering to the spirit of 20th CPC National Congress, 2024 National Conference on Education Work, and WORLD DIGITAL EDUCATION CONFERENCE 2024, which aims to strengthen the overall educational commitments and dedications in the areas of foreign languages teaching, reform, and research on the ‘digital’ capacities, shared educational resources, innovative models, and ‘Ecological’ reconstitution or reconstruction for a new outlook in the 21st century.

 

Officially, the organizing committee had collected submissions of 998 from universities and colleges in 29 provinces, autonomous regions, or municipalities since April.

 

After the professional examination and peer reviews in Anhui-area preliminaries, Team AXHU’s design, as one of the 78 works of excellence nationwide, joined the 2024 finals, during which all the members displayed their own solid teaching abilities and enabling ideas while combining with the great potentials of Ideological and Political Instructions in classroom.

 

So, they were positively recognized by the judgement panelists at all levels, and received a first prize in the category of Undergraduate Degree Courses Rankings in English Language. 

 

Considering the impact of the extended Instructions in the certain contexts, the School of Foreign Studies have already been committed to finding some new methods and approaches available to expedite its internal reform for much more transformative innovation engagement and outcomes-and to fostering a large-scale community of high-quality talents specialized in foreign languages, featuring national passions and international horizons as well.
