On Nov 16, the 5th Anhui Excellent Selection in Public Service Advertising announced this year’s 44 prize-awarding works (through its competitive qualification track: preliminary examination, review, finals, and the public informed as well), in which the AXHU Advertising undergraduate student ZHU Caixia was honored with the first prize (just one recognition in graphic design competition) for her impactful submission: Food Security—A Battlefield for Humanity.

 

To carry “the 14th Five Year Plan” forward by accelerating the high-quality evolution of advertising industry across Anhui province and implementing the Circular of the Administration for Market Regulation of Anhui Province [No.276, 2023]—the Work Planning for the 5th Anhui Public Service Advertising Recommendation and Excellent Selection and the 2nd Anhui Creative Commercials Competition, the event took place on 1 Jun 2023, and collected 3,531 objects from the social public across 21 provinces of China (or autonomous regions or municipalities).

 

Articulately, ZHU’s bespoke cases in the areas of graphic arts transport across the history and traditions by an exciting perspective and an injection of expansive innovation in configuration and fabrication, which are comprised of various grains/fresh produce growing on the farmland to suitably shape diverse regimental motifs, such as the armour, spear & shield (scutum), and centuries-old fort on the frontier.

 

Metaphorically, they are perhaps questioning of “How long can we survive ourselves if not a world of sufficient food supply on the earth,” which takes a closer look at the vicissitudes—via ‘broken armour,’ ‘rusted arms,’ and ‘toppled fort’—in a history, highlights the refurbishment for fit-for-purpose food security system, and advocates sustainable development goals, ending any ‘aggression’ of ‘Food Wasting,’ against food crisis.

 

Through three-level disciplinary competition system (of the school and departments, AXHU-wide engagement, and Anhui provincial higher education), the AXHU School of Culture and Communication Advertising faculty will delve deeper into its practical educational reform and innovations to educate the undergraduate students by cultivating their creative applications and ideas, and to grow their impacts in the field and meaningful contributions for all.
