AXHU models “University+Countrysides” of innovative teaching: 

To help current students transform what they had learned in study room and defined on their research papers 

To be in enthralling presences; To thrive through down-to-earth actions;

To cement with a future-proofing system; To crystallize in the greatest minds

Adhering to the Thought by President Xi Jinping on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era, AXHU is steadfastly committed itself to educate a newer generation of unwearied pursuers and competent builders, featuring all-rounded strengths of excellence in Moral, Intelligence, Fitness, Esthetic and Diligence, serving with heart and soul for the CPC construction, Chinese Dream, and the great socialist causes of humans.

Over the past few years, AXHU community constantly tries with a Prompt: “University+Countrysides” for its practical education and transformational fieldwork, by which those current college students would have grown their own positive cognition and a deeper understanding of how world view, life insights and values of There-being come out, and suited their talents and innovative ideas into every position in the real world.

To uphold the Thought by expanding significance and influences throughout the Ideological and Political Courses on university campus, its riveting requirement is to foster more and more high-level college students, who could be always tracing the Chinese profound humanities and traditional morality in a bigger picture and at the much-needed places in social work or during people-to-people lifetime, rather than being literally confined into such “temporal concepts” communicating at study rooms in serenity or intractably texting between the lines on some seminar proceedings in some way.

In April 2021, AXHU has ideally incubated the first nationwide research base of Ideological and Political Education for college students at Qingdun Village within the Shucheng County Economic-Technological Development Area, in the city of Lu’an, Anhui province, which is inherently as a prelude to roll out the Community Work Programme Series in a newer AXHU chapter.

Just several months later, the second exemplary site is successfully built up in Maying Village of Yangmiao township, Changfeng County in the city of Hefei, Anhui province. And in May 2023, the third one is also inaugurated at Shankou Village within Zipeng Mountain Economic-Technological Development Area in Feixi County, Anhui province.

Meanwhile, a batch of either affiliations or spin-outs have been constructed purposefully for actions of the rural rejuvenation, comprising 10 innovation and entrepreneurship bases for college students, as well as the College Students Research Center for Rural Revitalization, the Creative Writing Center, the Movie Hall, the Calligraphy & Fine Arts Society, and more.

Respectively, according to some cooperative agreements with the three villages’ administrations above, both AXHU and the villages will jointly offer the current college students a wider range of practical training and theme education, with which to cultivate their affections and love and a sense of responsibilities and duties for the Party, Chinese nation and its overall progress in today’s China, to inject the impetus for booming the rural areas on all fronts, and to drive the full-fledged operations at these clinical bases.

Locally, the culture-specific evolution, regional management and economic construction can hopefully make a difference with the support of absolute, transformational and far-reaching efforts of all AXHUers. With that, which is to set a tone for higher education institutions: the university community to a greater extent can steer their all-through development in general.

To be exact, the school board might learn from the local village officials and cordially invite them to instruct some practicum of the targeted student group, and deliver theme reports/lectures on the rural current situation and conditions and its innovative paths to rejuvenation.  

Meanwhile, the villages can channel the faculty and staff of AXHU serving as professional advisor as well as hands-on worker for the local economic construction, rural rejuvenation and cultural activities.

As scheduled, the college students in the programme will conduct relevant events in the rural areas, such as tutoring the left-behind children, rural household survey, live streaming sales of the local fresh produce, cultural promotion, and more.

Also, the College Students Research Center for Rural Rejuvenation has been established on AXHU campus, where the outstanding staff in person from those countrysides will hold seminar discussion on “Rural Rejuvenation and Social Engagement of College Students.

Centered on the construction of ideological and political education bases for college students, AXHU has put an array of innovation actions in place, spanning Rural Think Tanks Service Project, Rural Cultural Inheritance Project, “Beauty Village” College Student Volunteers Service Project, and more, with which to establish a solid bond linking AXHU academic strengths with rural community resources.

And a series of professional activities and events run, such as rural supportive education, making of cultural products, rural exhibition of paintings, artistic performance, rural art festivals, social survey and investigation, live streaming full marketing kit, “Wall Painting” (of primary school in village), Internet platforms (e.g. WeChat official accounts), shooting micro films, “Internet-famous” travel attractions, and the like.    

To power this practical education initiative of “University+Countrysides,” AXHU opens the ideological and political course: The Changes in Rural China Happening in the Context of Targeted Poverty Alleviation and Rural Rejuvenation (which consists of classroom teaching and field trips). Specially, those directors with the village committees will talk with the current college students face-to-face in classrooms, while the AXHU faculty, students and staff will co-work and design theme subjects to instruct the college students to practice on site, and hereby they can write out high-quality research reports.    

Consequently, the four academic reports (adopted by the local governmental administrations), i.e., Suggestions to the Development of Agricultural Industries at Shucheng County Economic-Technological Development Area, Outreach Programs in Maying Village: the Heart-to-Heart Volunteer Service for Rural Elders; the Promising Life and Career of “Red Berry Sisters.”  

Fruitfully, the theme speech titled “Youth’s Engagements in Rural Rejuvenation— Sunbeams over the Fertile Farmland” is conferred a provincial-level award at the College Students Master Competition for Ideological and Political Courses, and some students-led micro film production or the screenwriting, vigorously depicting the new socialist countrysides, win the first or second prizes at 2022 Anhui Provincial Microfilm Competition for College Students. And the brand-wise promotional video for marketing strawberries helps the local farmers earn a huge amount of economic interest and the online official account nicknamed “A Tune of Black Humor” engenders social impacts and harvests greatly.

To implement the iconic education model of “University+Countrysides,” the AXHU has also formed a holistic mechanism and correspondingly operative schemes for Ideological and Political Education in general, and established a panel (incl. the CPC AXHU committee secretary and the school-level leaders) and constructed a comprehensive educational body by extending cohort studies in the midst of multi-cultural creation spaces, featuring a brand new outlook in higher education of “To be in enthralling presences; To thrive through down-to-earth actions; To cement with a future-proofing system; To crystallize in the greatest minds” [外化于形、实化于行、固化于制、内化于心].
