The School of Art comprises of the Department of Fine Arts, Department of Animation,  Department of Design, launching pad for 6 undergraduate programs: Animation and Cartoon, Environment Design, Product Design, Visual Communication Design, Art and Scientific Technology, Fine Arts (additional specialty ratified by the MOE in 2019)

In Sept 2014, the School is named “ Advanced Unit of National Educational System,” and has built up the National-level Training Base for Employment and Entrepreneurship of University Students (“Welcomed Talents” majoring in Game and Animation), Anhui Provincial Training Base for Animation Talents, Anhui Provincial Animation Demonstration Experiment & Training Center, Anhui Provincial First-Class Undergraduate Major Construction Unit (Animation), “Vice Director” Unit of Anhui Provincial Arts and Crafts Association, and other more than 10 practical teaching bases within Anhui province and beyond.

 

With the landscape-style learning space, and the state-of-the-art teaching facilities, both the undergraduate students and academic staff have harvested many outstanding achievements in kinds of national- or provincial-level specialization competition and contests.

 

In a sustainable way, the School develops a featured education with a combination of on-site practice and in-class learning to beef up students’ power to create and explore the new frontiers, and conducts ‘three-in-one’ cultivation system:

In the recent years, the employment rate of its graduating students on average is up 97.6% or above. In the real-world work places, they can put what they learn from the classroom into practice, and serve for growing local economy. The Animation education, via teaching and instructing the content courses, including the Animation Modelling Design, Animation Motion Regularity, Scene Design, Animation Shooting Design, 3D Animation Production, Photography and Video, Special Effects, and Non-Linear Editing, is with the aims of fostering a considerable number of best minds and applied talents, who can grasp the fundamental knowledge and basic professional skills to engage in animation creation, film production, game art, project management, and more.

Via instructing and teaching the courses including the Corporate Image Design, Film and Television Advertising Production, Logo and Font Design, Format Design, Graphic Creativity, Packaging Design, Printing Process Design, Public Guide Design, combing the new ways and ideas of bleeding-edge design and creation in the areas of the visual communication and design science, design management, digital media, as well as visual psychology, the undergraduate program is to educate a larger quantity of high-level working professionals, engaging with the design, teaching, research and management related to visual communication design at social enterprises and organizations.

This full-time undergraduate program excellence is to teach and champion the academic courses and research, including Decoration Budget and Management, Decoration Materials and Construction Technology, Man-Machine Engineering, Furniture Design, Environmental Landscape Design, Plant Appreciation and Landscaping, Auto CAD, 3D, etc., so as to prepare much more high-quality applied talents featuring the solid academic knowledge and proficient skills, a spirit of innovation and sustainability, a prospect of employability and business startups, a grasp of modern design methods, who can well address the challenges and tasks, such as creative design, overall design planning, environment design research, etc.

This specialization education offers a suite of undergraduate courses/requirements, comprising the Chinese and Foreign Art History, Introduction to Art, Aesthetics, Chinese Calligraphy, Line-Drawing Painting, Flower-Bird Fine Brushwork, Impressionistic Landscape, Oil Painting Landscape, Folk Fine Arts, Material Creativity, Environment Design, Display Design, etc., to make the undergraduate students possible to acquire the fundamental theories in Art, and to be with a culture of both historically painting tradition at home and abroad and critically thinking of modern art trend in contemporary time, who can push the boundaries of artistic creation, presentation and interpretation, and devote themselves into the local “culture construction” or the education and training in Fine Arts.

 

After years of the post-secondary learning and research, as well as studio internships, the graduating students should be qualified and prepared for the locally new surge of popular demand for the talents engaging in the businesses relevant to the research, creation, management, culture construction, education and training from the fields of Fine Arts concentrations, such as the managership/mentorship at the culture institute and museum, Fine Arts publications, cultural industries operations, the appreciation, collection and conservation of intangible cultural heritage, architecture design of featured township, administering of community culture events or Fine Arts firms, Fine Arts courses taught in primary or secondary school, training up with Fine Arts content for the masses’ interests and merits, and so on.

This methodological education is, via its step-function teaching and learning of the compulsory courses including the Product Design Procedures and Methods, Product Presentation Techniques, Man-Machine Engineering, Materials and Craftsmanship, Modelling, Industrial Design, Design of Animation-Derivative Products, to prepare the promising undergraduate students, who can grasp the solid theories of product design, modeling and moulding, and be engaging with the relevant work, such as product design, process management, development of animation-derivative products, exhibition design and visual design and more, at the enterprises or public institutes.

This specialization education is to undertake the teaching and instruction of the undergraduate courses, including Effect Pictures Making (3DS MAX), Design and Production of Display Props, Composition of Exhibition Space, Design and Production of Exhibition Model, etc., and with a blend of artistic ideas and scientific technology, is to foster a considerable number of high-quality applied talents, who are capable of practically tackling the questions and problems in the fields of dynamic or static rendering for exhibits, innovative design, holistic planning, application of the modern designing methods in the real-life workplaces, spanning the enterprise and public institute, scientific and technical corporation, exhibition planning company, display design company, museum, popular science pavilion, business hall, etc.

JIANG He

JIANG He, male, professor, research fellow of Chinese Calligraphy at Huaibei Normal University, in-job study at CAFA (Central Academy of Fine Arts) and China Academy of Art, First-batch Young Skeleton Lecturers (of Anhui Provincial Higher Education System), “Excellent Administrator for Teaching Affairs” and “Outstanding Teacher” (of Fuyang Normal University).

 

Historically, Jiang worked, in the process, as the dean of School of Fine Art of Fuyang Normal University, director of the Pilot Courses in Art of National General Institutions of Higher Education (MOE), judge of the competition and project review at Anhui Provincial Education Department, judge special for the Art Festival by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Anhui Province, distinguished judge at the Cooperative Committee for the Specialty in Fine Arts of Anhui Provincial Higher Education, membership of the Education Committee of Anhui Provincial Calligraphers Association, chairman of Arts and Crafts Institute (Fuyang city, Anhui, China), etc.

 

Currently, Jiang is named the dean of AXHU School of Fine Arts, and also the supervisor of Anhui Provincial Arts and Crafts Institute, deputy chairman of Anhui Provincial Ceramic Association, deputy chairman of Calligraphers Association of Anhui Provincial Higher Education, distinguished expert of Anhui Provincial Zhongshan Art Academy, and adviser at the Fuyang Municipal Artists Association.

Andin the year of 2018, she supervisedthe undergraduate student, Ren Huanhuan, to win one of the national first-batch projects of innovation and startups for University Students, The Intangible Cultural Heritage of Anhui Province—Combining the Insights of Fuyang Paper Cutting Arts with the Creative Design of Animation Derivative Products.

CUI Xueyong, male, associate professor, member of the China Democratic League,  master’s degree from Hefei University of Technology, studying for his doctoral degree, Certified Animation Engineer (granted in 2015), Certified Graphic Designer (granted in 2017), Young Disciplinary Pacesetter (granted in 2017), Certified Architectural Electrical Engineer (granted in 2018).

 

Get Involved

On the basis of teaching practices, Cui actively engages in a spectrum of both classroom teaching activities and scientific research, and increasingly enhances his own professional abilities and academic level.

 

Till now, he has achieved a number of outcomes in process, including 1) 2 key projects of Anhui Provincial Humanities and Social Sciences Foundation (director), 2) 1 key project of Anhui Provincial Department of Culture (member), 3) other innovative projects of Teaching and Scientific Research, Featured Courses, and High-Quality Courses (director, or member), 4) 3 projects of AXHU-wide Teaching Researches (member) and 1 project of AXHU-wide Teaching Researches (director), 5) many of Industry-University-Research Collaborative projects (director).

 

More than 10 academic papers are accepted and published on Journals (Incl. national core publications), such as “Journal of Hunan City University,” “Journal of Changchun Normal University,” “The Guide of Science & Education,” “Journal of Xi’an University of Arts Science (Natural Science Edition),” “Journal of Nanchang Normal University,” “Journal of Beijing City University,” as well as other international journals. Cui has written and published 1 textbook (first author), and other 5 textbooks (co-author).

 

Moreover, he successfully instructs the undergraduate students, who have won many of awards on the field, such as Academy Award Competition Event, Times Young Creative Awards Competition Event, Animation Design Competition, Chinese College Students Computer Design Competition, Earthquake Resistance and Disaster Reduction Design Competition. And Cui himself has been honored several times with the “Excellent Instructor.”
