The precursor of the School of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence is the AXHU Department of Computer Science and Technology founded in 2000, which boasts over 20 years of endeavour and commitments to teaching and academic research in the context of higher education, and cultivates a huge quantity of high-quality professionals and applied talents.

 

Today, the School has seven undergraduate programs including the Computer Science and Technology, Information Management and Information System, Network Engineering, Software Engineering, Data Science and Big Data Technology, Digital Media Technology, and Intelligence Science and Technology. In particular, the Computer Science and Technology is ratified as the Anhui Provincial Featured Specialization, also Anhui Provincial Pilot Specialization for Comprehensive Reform, the Network Engineering as the Anhui Provincial-level Key Specialization Construction (project of the Excellent Engineer Education Planning), Information Management and Information System as the AXHU-wide Featured Specialization, Software Engineering as the Anhui Provincial First-class Specialization Construction Site (Anhui Provincial Excellent Engineer Education Planning), the Digital Media Technology as the Anhui Provincial Excellent Engineer Education Planning, the Data Science and Big Data Technology as the AXHU-wide Key Specialization Construction. In partnership with the Department of Commerce of Anhui Province and Hefei Municipal Bureau of Commerce, the School builds up the training base for talents in the area of Anhui provincial IT service outsourcing. And along with the renowned enterprises, such as iFLYTEK corporation, Tedu.cn group, the demo center for internships and field work in aspect of IT service outsourcing is established.

The School follows up an orientation of fostering applied talents serving for the development of the city of Hefei, reach of Yangtze River Delta, civil society of China, and drives the reform in the talents cultivation by a mode of “Threefold Triads,” highlighting the all-around quality of university students and developing a kind of higher education characterizing solid academic theories, versatile knowledge, enabled practice, innovative power, hands-on abilities, etc. In recent years, more than 500 undergraduate students of the School have earned 200 plus awards (of the provincial- or national-level competition or contests in the areas of computer design, programme design, information security, Chinese Computer Game Competition), such as the “Internet Plus,” “Challenge Cup,” “Youth Maker,” etc. Besides, the officially-approved projects of university students’ innovation and entrepreneurship amounts to 20 plus every year, and the enrollment rate of the School candidates for the national graduate admissions keeps an incremental impetus, while its one-off employment rate stays above 95%, and moreover, the employment units widely speak highly of the quality of  graduating students.

WU Jianguo

WU Jianguo, male, full professor, doctorate, is named the dean of the School of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence. And the teaching achievements and scientific research breakthroughs of his include:

a) working as the director for more than 20 national-, ministerial- or provincial-level projects, such as the National Science and Technology-supported Planning, National 863 Plan, Technology Innovation Foundation of the China’s Ministry of Science and Technology (for the small or medium-sized enterprises), Anhui Provincial Science and Technology Edge-cutting, b) the patentee of the first-ever bar-code reader of China, c) the Developer-General of the “Palmtop Automatic Scanning Electronic Translation Dictionary (technology transfer costing RMB 30 million at Shenzhen Hi-tech Fair),” d) more than 80 academic papers published on the “Chinese Journal of Computers,” “Computer Research and Development,” covering the research areas of the automatic integration of digital systems, graph coverage optimization method, innovation for massive character string intelligent pattern matching, which can be universally applied into the social producing, e) 7 national-level inventions and 8 national practical new patents, which has been transformed into a large amount of production capacity, and also substantially generates economic and social benefits.

 

Wu teaches the content courses specific to undergraduate students, including the Programming Methodology, Data Structure, Algorithm Design and Analysis, High Performance Computing Structure, Design Automation of Digital System, etc. And the personal honors or awards include the recipient of the State Council Government Special Allowance, 1 first prize of the Ministerial-level Scientific and Technological Progress Award (as the first fellow), 2 second prizes and 1 third prize of Ministerial-level Scientific and Technological Progress Award, 2 third prizes of Provincial-level Scientific and Technological Progress Award.

 

XU Guoming

XU Guoming, male, postdoctoral fellow, instructor of master’s program, has, in recent years, achieved many scientific research outcomes in the areas of the Polarization Imaging Detection, Target Detection and Recognition, and directed the key research projects in a) natural science involving National Natural Science Foundation of China, b) Anhui Provincial Natural Science Foundation, c) China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, Pre-research Project for Defense Equipment of General Armament Department, d) Pre-research Project for Army Equipment Technology, e) 2 enterprise-authorized cross-cutting projects (totaling 1.1 million yuan), f) Anhui Provincial Key Laboratory Open Foundation (1 project of Polarized Light Imaging Detection Technology), g) more than 50 academic research papers published on the international or domestic journals or conference proceedings (of which, SCI/EI, or CSCD), h) 6 textbooks (editor, or co-editor), i) 3 monographs (of which, 1 National Key Publication Planned Project during the 13th Five-Year Plan Period, and also National Publishing Foundation of China), j) 8 patents (authorized/accepted to nations, or defense inventions), k) 11 new utility patents, l) 12 software copyrights.

 

XU teaches the courses to undergraduate students, including the Advanced Language Programme Design, Data Structure, Database Principles and Applications, Software Engineering, Operating System, Digital Image Processing, etc.  

 

And the personal honors or awards include 1 first prize and 1 third prize of the Military Scientific and Technological Progress Award, senior membership of the China Computer Federation and of the Chinese Optical Engineering Society, membership of the Chinese Society of Image and Graphics, member of the National Assessment and Monitoring of the Graduate Education (experts tank of MOE), member of the Anhui Province Bidding and Tendering Association (experts tank), first-batch Commissioner of the Science and Technology Department of Anhui Province, and also the reviewer with many of journals at home and abroad.

 

WANG Decheng

WANG Decheng, male, full professor, doctorate, receives his master’s degree in Engineering of Zhengzhou University (2004-07), and sets out academic touring at the University of Science and Technology of China (2015-16). The main achievements of his teaching and scientific research include a) 1 key project of Anhui Provincial Education Department, 1 project of the AXHU Scientific Research Group, 1 program of the AXHU Scientific Research, b) more than 20 projects of Anhui Provincial Quality Engineering or AXHU Quality Engineering (director, or member), c) more than 20 academic papers published on kinds of journals at home and abroad. And Wang teaches the courses to undergraduate students including the Fundamentals of Compiling Program, Computer Graphics, and more. The personal honors and awards comprise of AXHU Skeleton Teacher and AXHU Dual-qualification Teacher.

 

WU Weiwei

WU Weiwei, female, full professor, has achieved many academic achievements including 1 Quality Engineering Project of Anhui Provincial Education Department, 1 AXHU High-quality Course, or some of provincial-level and AXHU-wide teaching or scientific research projects (member), and 2 key scientific research projects of Anhui Provincial Education Department (director), and lots of academic papers published at home and abroad (of which, EI). And Wu teaches the content courses to undergraduate students including the Discrete Mathematics, Operations Research, Management Information System, etc. The personal honors and awards comprise of the Famous Teacher (of Ideological and Political Education), second prize of the 2nd session of AXHU Teaching Contest for Young Lecturers.

 

QI Xiaoxia

QI Xiaoxia, female, full professor, doctorate, Anhui Provincial Famous Teacher, instructor of master’s program, has earned in the areas of academic research including 1 key project of Anhui Provincial Higher Education Natural Science, enterprise and public institution-authorized scientific project, 4 key projects of AXHU Natural Science, and many academic papers, 1 national-level patent, and 6 practical new patents. Qi teaches the content courses to undergraduate students including Computer Network, Network Security, Network Storage, etc.

 

LU Teng

LU Teng, male, doctorate, full professor, instructor of master’s program (at Anhui Jianzhu University), has made a number of academic achievements including 6 key projects (director), such as, of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Anhui Provincial Natural Science Foundation, Natural Science Foundation of Anhui Provincial Education Department and 6 projects (director) of the Anhui Provincial Quality Engineering, as well as more than 90 teaching and scientific research papers (of which, SCI/EI). LU teaches the content courses to undergraduate students, comprising the Database Principles and Applications, Introduction to Speciality, Introduction to Computer Science, etc. The honors and awards of his include Anhui Provincial Famous Lecturer, 1 first prize and 1 second prize of Anhui Provincial Natural Science Excellent Paper, 2 second prizes of Hefei Municipal Natural Science Excellent Paper, winner of the Subsidized Project for Top-tier Talents Development of Anhui Provincial Higher Education Discipline (Major).  

 

ZHANG Yiwen

ZHANG Yiwen, female, full professor, doctorate, instructor of master’s program, is the director of the Institute of Intelligent Information Processing Research. The main teaching and scientific research achievements of her include 3 projects of the Quality Engineering funded by Anhui Provincial Education Department, 1 AXHU High-quality Course, 2 projects of AXHU-wide Teaching Research, 1 key research project of Anhui Provincial Education Department Natural Science, 1 project of AXHU Scientific Research Group, as well as other scientific research projects (member), and more than 30 academic papers (of which, EI) accepted and published at home and abroad. Objective

This specialization education is to cultivate a large quantity of applied talents in the field of computer science, who can acquire comprehensive capabilities featuring a quality of Moral, Intelligence, Wellness, Esthetic and Diligence, highly professional ethics, and a grasp of strengths in aspects of intercultural communication in English or Japanese language, computational thinking, algorithm design and analysis, programming and generating, system integration, software and hardware engineering practice, innovation and entrepreneurship. Following 5-year field work, the graduating students can be capable of engaging in the IT-related scientific work, such as the development of large and medium-sized hardware and software system, the project management of hardware and software engineering, new methods and new technology development, and can undertake the jobs, including database management, website development and IT Product sales, etc.

 

Career

After graduation, the candidate can apply for his or her position(s) at software company, scientific research institute, enterprise and public institution, and department of national defense, addressing the work, such as software system analysis, design, development, testing, maintenance and project management, or teaching and scientific research at higher education.

The graduating students can engage in the work, involving big data-related management, scientific research, application and development: 1) data cleaning, data analysis,  industry data analysis modeling, providing valuable information or related service for clients; 2) designing, structuring, managing, operating, maintenance, and optimizing of Hadoop Cluster Architecture; 3) operation and maintenance of Big Data Basic Platform; 4) building data analysis platform and design and development of Distributed Computing Service.
