AXHU 2024 RUIHANG’s voyage

The 4^th National Intelligent Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) Competition came to an end in the city of Dalian, Liaoning, China.

Team AXHU, which consists of some current undergraduate students at AXHU School of Electronic Engineering/Intelligent Manufacturing, instructed by the academic staff LIU Yuan and WANG Shuang, earned one first prize, four third prizes, Best Design, Outstanding Mentorship, and Excellent Organizing Award.

Organized jointly by the Chinese Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers,  China Institute of Navigation, China Simulation Federation, China Diving and Salvage Association, and the People’s Government of Dalian Municipality, this year’s high-profile event brought together dozens of R&D teams at China’s impact higher education institutions, such as Peking University, Tsinghua University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Naval University of Engineering, and more.

The competitive contents include: Maritime Intelligent Synergistic Search & Rescue Manoeuvre; USV-based Operations for Dynamic Target; USV Underwater Search & Rescue; Creative Design for Maritime AI Systems.

Correspondingly, AXHU RUIHANG Engineering team presented a raft of all-weather USV-laden solutions with an advancement in Efficiency, Flexibility and Intelligence, and the state-of-the-art hardware supporting for the environment-focused trips, which also may unleash the big potentials for challenging climate changes on waters.

During the demonstration and defense on site, the team members, moreover, won a range of positive appraisals from the judgement panelists and peer reviewers in recognition of their innovative, transformative and pragmatic research, team spirit, as well as all-rounded capacity on the individual level. 

This event actually acted as a 360 examination and inspection in person over the R&D practices conducted by AXHU RUIHANG USV group over the past years, while paying tribute to their achievements and academic “centerpieces” to update the knowledge and technology in this domain, who had experienced the aha-moment of “re-imagining what and how the avid practitioners could make a difference behind concerted effort, common interest, shared resources, and collective wisdom in a bigger world.” 

In the upcoming years, AXHUers will still be committed to discovering and expanding the disciplinary innovations, transformations, promotions, and applications based on educational efforts in every academic area, and make more contributions to public welfare in economic society.
