Data science-based commitment to Chinese literature & art

On Oct 15, the National Office for Philosophy and Social Sciences’ announcements  granted a research project in Chinese Modern and Contemporary Literature: Recompiling, Research and Database Construction for ZHANG Henshui’s Collection (1895-1967), led by Prof. XIE Jiashun in the AXHU School of Culture and Communication, which had become a historical achievement across AXHU, sponsored by the national social sciences foundation (project number:24BZW119).

 

Over the past decades, Xie has been committed himself to the studies of ZHANG Henshui’s literary and artistic creations, who had successfully applied for a project of  2010 national social sciences foundation at AXHU: The Chronicles of ZHANG Henshui’s Literature & Art, with which this year’s further research of planning from 2024-28 will turn to the newest tools and approaches based on data sciences, so as to rediscover the resources collecting for a portfolio of ZHANG Henshui’s literature in history.

 

Today, the national social sciences foundation programs have been recognized as the highest-impact, top-level, and authoritative engagements compliantly in the appealing arena of either Philosophy & Social Sciences researchers or the potential drivers of the disciplinary building, and also a scholarly ‘Meter’ for gauging but demonstrating the real academic endeavors and effectiveness at both higher education institutions and the external research institutes, which can serve as the exemplary models for steering the  data-driven transitions shifting with sustainable innovation across China.

 

For the recent years, AXHU administration has already been driving the on-campus academic breakthroughs supported by strengthening the internal ‘management and motivation systems’ of excellence to spur a raft of high-quality research programs submitted in accordance with state-level research orientation in this area, by which to grow the AXHUers’ academic capacities to engage in the first-rate transformation and innovations.

 

The MOE-sponsored landmark project by Prof. Xie, to a great extent, manifested the current academic level and strengths regarding cultural creativity and sustainability, which would propel AXHU-based research in the area of Philosophy and Social Sciences to the next level.
