Recently, the NANJING WRITERS ASSOCIATION, the NANJING LITERARY CRITICS ASSOCIATION, and the YOUTH magazine publishing house, jointly announced the prize-winning works of the “Yangtze River” 2024 Solicitation of China College Students’ Poems of Excellence.

 

The lyric "Adjacencies" won the third prize, written by the student editor of AXHU Center for Creation Writing CHEN Yanan, C’25, who is studying the Chinese Language and Literature undergraduate program at AXHU School of Culture and Communication.

 

This event aims to inherit and communicate the national history and culture, to acclaim the  spectacular and splendid landscape in nature and humanities of China, and to reflect the better Youth-minded artmaking solutions and outcomes from the “Yangtze River Ecological Civilization Construction” initiative in the new era.

 

The standing committee office received a larger quantities of poetic works submitted by the candidate students at more than 300 universities and colleges nationwide, which works out a competition mode of “preliminary review + final verification,” employed all the current editors of the YOUTH magazine to recognize the nominations, and then the 7-member group, including the leading contemporary writers and experts on the Art of Poetry, selected and decided the new Prize laureates.

 

Chen is a passionate man of humane letters, who won the second prize at the Anhui New Stars Original Literature Competition respectively in 2022 and 2023, the third prize of the “Wenqi Cup” 2023 Literature Competition (among Higher Education Institutions in the Yangtze River Delta), and is serving as an assistant editor of the internal AXHU Journal Ru-Qin Lake directed by Prof. SUN Renge at the School of Culture and Communication.

 

Staying true to educational journey of original aspiration, the School has long prepared the students to be impactful writers of tomorrow, while exploring the external positive resources to support students’ competence in literary creations and to transform educational outcomes as much as possible.
