AXHU CLASSROOM TEACHING & INNOVATION COMPETITION

To build a positive environment for teaching and learning at higher education community, to fully drive ideological and political construction in ways, and to deepen today’s teaching reform and innovations, the Center for Faculty’s Teaching Capacity Development (of AXHU Department for Teaching Affairs) set out the 4th AXHU Classroom Teaching & Innovation Competition at AXHU Wisdom Classroom on Jan 11, 2024.

  

After the preliminary events at AXHU schools and departments, respectively, the 47- member candidates are qualified for the final competition, which covers three areas in New Liberal Arts, Ideological and Political Education series, and New Engineering Science as well as other fundamental courses.

 

Notably, its current judge panel consists of not only the impact academics at AXHU, but also some peer scholars from other institutions and organizations, including Prof. ZHANG Hong with Anhui University Center for Educational Development; Prof. ZHENG Hongmei with Hefei University of Technology; Prof. LI Feifei with Anhui Medical University; and Prof. LI Xiaohui, dean of AXHU School of Electronic Engineering and Intelligent Manufacture; Prof. FAN Dongsheng, dean of AXHU School of Foreign Studies /International Education School (also the academic advisor); the deputy dean of AXHU School of Marxism DONG Lijuan.

 

As required, the every teacher-contestant should complete a mix of binary performance testing on site, comprising 15-minute Classroom Teaching presentation and 5-minute critical talk of their sparking ideas for the innovative teaching design and concepts at the deeper layers.

 

And they were being based on any smart teaching tools—where if possible, integrating the ideological and political education with the specialized knowledge-and being proven to a philosophy of “Student-centered Classroom and Teacher-led Solutions,” which reflects the individuals’ educational achievements, teaching styles, well-trained skills, academic basement, and dedicated career.

 

In general, “Most of the teaching contents have generated a profound impact for the future,” every judge member referring to the assessment system (or technical standards) gives their own insights for each demo class, “The lecturers attach a greater importance to the students’ comprehensive growth on campus, organically combining with the trending higher education understandings from the relevant working conferences or symposiums, and the ideological and political education with Chinese characteristics in the new era.”

 

“Moreover, today’s teachers and researchers at higher education institutions should turn to innovative theories and practices, to highlight redesign for everyday academic courses, to expand the creative contents teaching in depth and breadth, as well as to improve individuals’ teaching competence during either classroom activities or teaching competition across all levels.”

  

Importantly, it has made a difference online or on campus, which realized “open resources” by live streaming at the AXHU schools and departments or the Visualized Teaching Supervision/Regulation Platform. Yet a large number of faculty, students and staff headed for the venue and observed this excellent event in person.

  

Starting from Nov 1, 2023 onwards, many faculty had been dedicated themselves to this annual teaching competition regarding its educational development impact, by which AXHU-wide teaching innovation and reform could work out as much as possible, to co-building a knowledge-sharing platform insofar, on which to network and exchange whatever they hardly achieved over the past years, and to styling their academic confidence in enhancing the overall teaching quality at AXHU and braving the educational transformation and innovation, which would to be professionally backed by the high-quality team work in the coming days.
